Sonia is a native of Arizona, reputable bilingual educator and family advocate with extensive knowledge in the areas of communication disorders, early learning, special education, and adult training; experience in providing technical assistance for programs in underserved communities with increased populations with special health care needs; experience providing technical assistance nationwide to educational, clinical and child care programs in the area of referral, treatment and follow-up services for families with children with potential hearing and/or vision loss; and experience providing ongoing educational support and coordination of services connecting families to specialized programs, to support children’s learning and the need for any supplemental services that may be identified during the sensory screening process for hearing and vision.

Sonia is actively involved in providing continuous education and awareness to community partners who are supporting the deaf, hard of hearing or deaf/blind communities with support services, resources in children’s learning and guidance in navigating systems of care in Arizona. I am thankful to have the opportunity to serve alongside other wonderful partners that share the same vision of investing in the lives of our diverse community.
